Dive into the world of marine research

Marine research live – In the coming week, marine enthusiasts will have two opportunities to experience and try out the DAM transfer projects Future Box Oceans, Interactive World Ocean and the digital information portal Oceans Online: at the CINEMARE film festival in Kiel and at the Long Night of Museums in Hamburg.

April 24-28: Marine knowledge at the CINEMARE Film Festival

On April 25, the DAM will present its educational projects at the Ocean Literacy Forum of the 8th International Ocean Film Festival CINEMARE on the initiative of the German Ocean Decade Committee (ODK). Ute Wilhelmsen, head of the DAM’s core area of transfer and member of the ODK board, will also moderate the panel discussion on the question “How do we anchor marine knowledge in society?”.

CINEMARE is a unique multi-day marine film festival in Northern Europe. Short films, feature films, discussions and exhibitions deal with issues relating to marine protection, science communication and film art. The DAM’s contributions to the festival are part of the ODK’s activities and take place in the context of the UN Ocean Decade, of which the DAM is a strategic partner.

April 27: The DAM at the Long Night of Museums in Hamburg

The DAM is taking part in the Long Night of Museums in Hamburg on April 27 with its contribution “Making marine research effective”: Swantje Preuschmann from the DAM transfer team will give a half-hour lecture on the transfer of knowledge from research to society at 10 p.m. in the International Maritime Museum Hamburg.

From 6 p.m. onwards, the DAM stand on deck 7 of the maritime museum will be hosting the Meere Online information portal. Visitors can also test their marine knowledge in a quiz.

We look forward to welcoming many visitors!
